Intro to the mound

Well here it is the first post in the stinkin mound blogspot. For those who are visitors to this site, the R family when growing up spent hours of slave labor working on a desolate uninhabited piece of terra firma called the mound. Our drive way was just over an 1/8 of a mile long and culminated in a gravel culdesac in the center of the culdesac Grandma R wanted to put a flower garden with a waterfall, and other asthetically pleasing acroutements including rocks pilfered from various roadsides throughout the US, a varying assortment of bushes, dead tree stumps, rotten whiskey barrells, and a rusted out corn planter built in the late 1800's (about the same time Grandma R was born :) The mound has been a thorn in the side but also an icon to our family representing trials that bring us together and make us stronger despite the pain that is often times associated with these trials. So sit back and enjoy the reading.......

B & K The Mound Edition 8 Oct 2005

All is well in KY, it has been a busy roller coaster ride over the last few months. We made an offer on a house 2 months ago and it was accepted. It is a cute little place in the country, 4 miles from my work and not far from the grocery store. With gas prices these days the 20 miles off the commute per day pays off quickly. Grandma H’s funeral was bittersweet as we are happy that she could be with Grandpa again, my only regret in not going is not getting to see K one more time. We closed on the house the day K crashed and we were in Oregon 3 days later, after that experience I came straight back while K did some visiting of friends in Utah. She got home on Saturday and immediately began packing for our move. 6 days later she has moved nearly everything while I am eyeball deep in training we cleaned both houses top to bottom shampooed the new house twice and the old house once washed walls and unpacked everything got all settled in and then I left on a 3 week excursion from here to Albuquerque NM, Dallas TX, Pensacola FL and home. It was an interesting trip we had a good time however it was punctuated because every time I did something cool I would think to myself I have to tell K this and then I immediately realized that I couldn’t and that would somber my mood. Our thoughts and prayers have been with L and N a K, as they will continue to be. Also the news of S and S’s loss so close on the tail of everything is just another reminder of the imperfections of this world. With out doing a Grandpa and getting all preachy eternal perspective has been taken to a new level here. A quick change of subject my check ride out of this training was successful after being delayed by multiple things I am not going to talk about compounded by hurricane Rita, so I am moving to a line company and becoming deployable Tuesday. Fri-Mon our Stake is going down to Louisiana to help with hurricane relief, mostly cutting up trees and clearing debris I will try and let you all know how it goes. K is still holding up the homestead K1 and S miss their brother while he is at school. W is already asking to be home schooled sheesh that is a little early, S has gained an inordinate affection for shoes other than her own again a little early and K1 has gained an affinity for not wearing cloths, again a little early. Stay safe and know that we love you all even if K does a terrible job of keeping in touch with all of you. We love you all B & K
